50 Things to Do for Others During the Holidays
Over the years, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas have become almost one unit, morphing into three months of commercialism. To reassure yourself (and others) that these holidays still have a deeper, emotional meaning, a simple move is to do something for other people. If you don’t have any ideas on what to do, check out these options. Just keep social distancing in mind, stay contactless where you can and adapt protocols as needed to stay safe. As we clear the pandemic, expand what you do and be kind all year round.
- Offer to babysit for free for a busy mom you know.
- Pay for someone’s meal at a restaurant or drive-thru. Alternately, pay some or all of the outstanding meal balance for a kid at your local school.
- Tell someone how they have influenced you for the better.
- Volunteer at a soup kitchen, food distribution center or other charity.
- Offer to Christmas shop with a list from someone who can’t go or get online on their own.
- Cook a home-cooked meal for a neighbor.
