Recently, I posted a piece that outlined the essentials necessary for work-from-home success. While all of the items I identified are handy, the one at the top of the list is so important that I’m recommending it here for everybody, regardless of your industry, title, or goals.

Save your cash, stay clean

As a professional, one of the things others expect of you most is that you’re going to continue to learn and improve yourself, that you’re going to stay informed about what’s going on in your field and the world. On one level, that means mentorship and connecting with others. But it also means diving into the data you’ll find in magazines, journals, newspapers, and books. Personal subscriptions to these sources can easily run a few hundred dollars. Over time, they can clutter your home or office space.
